Quick Beer Review

I ran out for beer around 8:00 pm, and because the logo really caught my eye (packaging matters!), I snagged a 4-pack of Catch Wave IPA from Grimm Artisanal Ales out of Brooklyn, NY.

It has a faint floral scent, not overly hoppy, and a hazy golden hue. It goes down very smoothly, with a pleasant aftertaste of very mild hops and citrus. It is not strong in any aspect (scent, hops, color), but it is extremely refreshing. The El Dorado and Hallertau Blanc hops are both new to me, and they work. I'd definitely drink this beer again! And I do love that label. I'm definitely going to keep it in my rotation for summer...

New Music

Ugh, what a year. I miss live music so much! But at least most of us are being responsible, and getting a handle on COVID-19. Hopefully concerts, club shows, and stadium fests will be returning by summer!

In the meantime, I snagged some new music for myself over the last few days:

Fleet Foxes - "Shore"

Nick Jonas - "Spaceman"

Laura Brehm - "Breathe" EP

Great Find

As a lifelong fan of the band Ivy, I was thrilled to find an album that covers many of Adam Schlesinger's songs (he also fronted Fountains of Wayne, as well as other projects, but Ivy is my concern here). One of the bands who participated is Potty Mouth (originally from Massachusetts!), who covered their song "I've Got a Feeling". As always, I researched the new-to-me band, and discovered that their sound is right in my wheelhouse! So after a couple of days of listening, I bought their 2019 full-length album "SNAFU", as well as the covered Ivy song. It'll spend a lot of time in my car (especially on this four-days-off autumn interlude).

So if you are a fan of Kay Hanley/Letters to Cleo, or just any great rock band with female vocals, check out Potty Mouth. I highly recommend them, and plan to see them live whenever this COVID-19 nightmare ends.

Bandcamp Friday Part Deux

I had to go back and add another $15 worth of music to my day's hunt!

Bandcamp's #BandcampFriday event (no fees, all money direct to the artists) is a great way to get a ton of great music and support musicians who cannot tour during the Corona Virus pandemic. Social Distancing can be overcome, while helping out worthy creators.
